Abstract

The synthesis report summarizes the results of “LNG2Hydrogen” (a sub-project of the hydrogen lead project “TransHyDE”) on the long-term conversion of LNG terminals to the use of hydrogen and its transport vectors. The project focused on technological, regulatory, economic and ecological issues, which were investigated comprehensively and on an interdisciplinary basis. The analysis shows that multi-use terminals can reduce investment costs in the long term, speed up approval procedures and increase operational safety. The report emphasizes that technology-open and flexible planning is crucial to successfully mastering global energy and climate challenges.
