Johannes Graetschel is a Senior Research Associate in IKEM’s Energy Law Department. His research there focuses on sustainability and climate protection law.
He studied law with a focus on European and international law in Freiburg and Rio de Janeiro. After passing his first bar exam, he completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in comparative law and European law at the Católica Global School of Law and Cornell Law School in Ithaca, NY. He completed his legal preparatory service at the Hamburg Higher Regional Court, including positions at the State Chancellery in Hamburg, the German Environment Agency, and the European Commission. He has also worked as a lecturer in constitutional law at the University of Hamburg and as a freelance journalist for Legal Tribune Online.
In addition to his work at IKEM, he is doing his doctorate on a topic of international environmental law.
